FISHING GEAR / RODS

North Edge Standard Rods

Our test team, led by our test director,
puts in more than 200 days of on-the-water testing a year in the fields of Hokkaido.

With Hokkaido as our development base we also test in overseas fields,
and draw on the knowledge of our pro guide testers abroad,
developing rods that hold up across very different environments.

Blanks use Toray carbon, and on some models
the current top class of material, such as T1100G.

We use hand-selected AAAAA-grade cork,
and on some models the reel seat is built completely by hand from raw stock.

We allow no compromise, down to the smallest material and step of the process,
and everything is manufactured in Japan.

Built on the assumption that they will be used hard on real water,
these are fishing-first rods, honed relentlessly around the performance the field actually demands.

"SPIRIT Series"

Rooted in Hokkaido

Our standard series, built in pursuit of the most advanced technology available.
For each field and each situation we arrive at the optimum blank material and taper design.
Hokkaido is the starting point, but these rods are aimed at targets overseas as well.
As core materials we use Toray T1100G carbon and quad-axial carbon wherever possible,
and on some models the reel seat is built completely by hand from scratch.
This is the series North Edge Standard has poured everything into.

"MONSTER Series"

Face the Monster

Our own MONSTER blanks generate more powerful torque the deeper you load them.
Even an unexpectedly large fish can be lifted with ease.
The blank material and taper design are matched to modern line systems,
so they handle not only overhead casting but the ever more specialised world of Spey lines at a high level.
